For normal salaried employees like us who are just kicking off in their careers, travelling around the globe takes a backseat. Especially when you are in a country like India then your target is very clearly fixed on increasing the size of your paycheck, your car and your home. Somewhere in this race we forget to live and forget the fact that after many years, you wont remember your increments, you wont remember your big car (which is depreciating in value) and you will be equally happy in a rented accommodation if you make a good home out of it. But the memories that you make and the places you see will always bring a smile to your face even 50 years down the line.
Its all about prioritizing your dreams of seeing the world over the peer pressure of owning the luxuries which may not even make you happy when you are alone.
I am lucky that my wife and I share the same passion of breaking free from our regular lives and exploring a new territory whenever we get a chance. We hunt for cheap tickets, we look out for budget Airbnb accommodations and we optimize our days and hours to make the most out of our journeys.

ReplyDeleteFor planing it takes months of efforts in searching for the right ship in your budget. After that it is just about booking the flights to your port and the ship company usually helps you in the process. We used Hurtigruten.

ReplyDeleteIt was 11K euros for two people in a shared cabin. Flight tickets will be around 1000 euros per person. Everything else is inclusive.
